Went to CVR after the Church of Skate (CoS) this past Sunday. Myself, James, Chuck Powell, and the O’Neal brothers; Donnie (14) and Dylan (11) from Currituck, NC. You might see a slight Dave Maxwell influence in their skating.

 Mr. Phelps and crew visited Japan–and skated. This is some sick footage of some of the coolest and original skate spots. There’s some sort of spill-way bowl snake run thing, janky mini-ramps, sick wooden and concrete bowls, banks, jersey barriers and much much more.  This is real skateboarding. I’m not sure if any of these guys are pro, or even sponsored. The way they stoke each other is inspiring and makes you wanna go out and skate. [Read more →]

“Vert is dead” and so are PCs. Really?  We’ve all heard the news that vert is dead, street is where it’s at but I say “Is it”?  Skate whatever you want. Saying something is dead doesn’t make it so as Dave and Ashley’s new creation prove the contrary thanks to photos provided by Rob Nelson over at eastcoastaholic.com.

Dave and Ashley are working on a huge vert bowl in the yard just NW of the OBX.  They finished a 20′ wide flat-wall section and decided to have a party and get their vert on with some friends and family.

Found this (don’t ask me how, I just stumbled upon it on cskate.com). It’s from a company called “SoCo Clothing” and they seem to sponsor Tim Johnson. Some of the spots I recognized were Dunedin, FL, Matt’s mini contraption in Isle of Palms, SC, Orlando City Skatepark, and The Hanger Bowl in Charleston, SC., and Kona.  ”able1039” responded to my YoutTube video: “Wanchese, NC Skating with Science and Jesse” with this video of Dave “Science” Maxwell ripping in 1993. Dave was ripping curbs, mini-ramps, flat-ground, and vert (as usual). It’s now 2008 and it seems this guy hasn’t slowed down a bit.

David Maxwell aka Science Fair

Well I finally dusted off an old VHS tape from 1993 and crudely transfered it to digital. Basically, I pointed my camera at a television and filmed it. Don’t forget about the showdow on September 27, 2008 in Pittsboro, NC. This will be the 5th year of skate sick skating, drinking, singing, sleeping and really bad heckling-so don’t miss it.  Last year we had a bon-fire launch ramp, flying cheeseburgers, and a few bad slams–wonder what’s gonna go down this year?
