Creature in South America
Here are 2 videos of the Creature team in South America. It’s the usual “Creatures” in the video; Al Partanen, Darren Navarrette, Sammy “I grabbed Stacy’s ass and got punched” Baca, Emmanuel Guzman (Does Guzman ride for Creature?) and a few others. There’s not much to say other these guys make great videos and skate different stuff. Check out the half-pipe in the first video and the sick snake run in the second video.

Coughing Means You Have AIDS

These kids are skating on the roof of a park building when some old rent-a-cop rolls up and kicks them out. He’s really really old and pissed. I’m guessing because that roof is popular with the local skaters (“Keep Off the Roof” is stenciled on the eve of the building). He asks the coughing kid if he has AIDS.

Post22 – Issue 18
Local NC crew Post22 just realease another one of their insane videos. Pretty much all street skating except a small snippet of “Dirty’s” mini ramp towards the end. These guys put out quality movies. Note; they say this is the last Post22 video to be shot with the VX100…guess it’s HD from now on!

“Showdown V” Slide Show and Photos
The Pink Crack Collective put together a slide show of this year’s Showdown as mentioned here at justSkate.me a while back. Check out the video slide show after the jump. And some bald fat dude’s wife posted some photos too–thanks Tracey.
This is one of my favs from Tracey:

Thrasher Magazine goes to Japan
Mr. Phelps and crew visited Japan–and skated. This is some sick footage of some of the coolest and original skate spots. There’s some sort of spill-way bowl snake run thing, janky mini-ramps, sick wooden and concrete bowls, banks, jersey barriers and much much more. This is real skateboarding. I’m not sure if any of these guys are pro, or even sponsored. The way they stoke each other is inspiring and makes you wanna go out and skate. [Read more →]

Dekline of Eastern Civilization (3 of 3)
The Skateboard mag just posted part 3 of a 3 part series on their southern Dekline tour (Issue #56). This video is mostly NC and Atlanta footage. I also saw some spillway footage (near Graham, NC?) and Crawdad Hole footage around the 1:20 mark.

Cool Bus Stops (artsy)
Stumbled upon these bus stops that advertisers tricked-out. There’s all sorts of themes, styles, and gimmicks. Quiksilver created one with a quarter-pipe and on with a surfboard. The quarter-pipe bus stop is skateable–sick.

Marsh Creek Skate Park Dedication
Tuesday September 30th, 2008 at Marsh Creek Park. The park is located at 3016 New Hope Road in Raleigh, NC.
If you can manage to sneak out of work/school (j/k about the school) and show your support that’d be cool, but it you can’t, we understand. I’ll take some photos and maybe some video for archival purposes and post it up on Tuesday. In the meantime check out the new “Harsh Creak” blog.
UPDATE:
Here are a few photos taken during the dedication:

Harsh Creak!
That is the name of a new blog that’s going to keep tabs on the construction of the Raleigh Skatepark at Marsh Creek. Jer and Jayrock are going to post construction photos, updates, and any issues that pop up during construction. I’ll keep you posted here, of course, and post periodically of what Jer and Jay are up to over there. Artisan will be the “skatepark” builders of this new park (as well as the new Durham park that’s still in the planning/design phase).
Check out the logo Jer designed

Here’s a cheesy mock-up of where the park will be situated

Here’s the latest rendering (I think it’s the final design)

Canon EOS 5D Mark II DSLR/HD Cam
I know this is a skateboard blog but the new Canon EOS 5D Mark II just might change the way photogs and filmers document skateboarding. Not only is this a 21 megapixel still camera but it’s also an HD (1080p) video camera. Check out a sample movie created with this camera after the jump. Canon will sell the body-only for $2,699 or bundled with Canon’s 24-105mm f/4L IS USM zoom lens for $3,499

Normally any video capability on a still camera is just an afterthought and the quality of the video is only good enough for youtube. This seems to be different.

Dekline of Eastern Civilization (1 of 3)
The Skateboard mag just posted part 1 of a 3 part series on their southern Dekline tour (Issue #56). This video is mostly Atlanta but I did spot some Raleigh, NC area full-pipe action.
